For personal or family balance, many parents aspire to have a kid of a particular gender. Preimplantation genetic testing is a procedure that can be used to select the gender of the fetus (PGT). By injecting sperm into eggs (ICSI), this technology creates embryos in the lab. A cell from each embryo is then analyzed to determine its sex chromosome, which is either XY (male) or XX (female).
With a 99.9% success record, Prof. Hassan Maghraby employs this technology to provide gender selection services to his patients.
It is a popular misconception that the mother determines the sex of the fetus, yet this is untrue. The mother transfers one of her X chromosomes—the only ones she possesses—to the egg that the sperm fertilizes. On the other side, the father gives the sperm either of the two chromosomes that he possesses, X or Y. A female XX chromosome will be present in the fetus if the sperm carries one. It is a guy (XY) if it has a Y chromosome. Thus, the sex of the fetus is entirely determined by the father.
